As a scenic artist, I specialize in the immersive, large-scale environments that bring world-class stories to life. With a career spanning high-profile feature films and acclaimed regional theater, my work is defined by a meticulous attention to texture and authenticity.

Isle of Dogs

A Wes Anderson Film

Isle of Dogs

Unlike the large-scale commercial murals I regularly worked on where people are rarley focusing on a 2-inch wide section, the work for Wes Anderson was the opposite. This projecct allowed me to revel in obsessing over the details. The painting above is a background panel that appears in the first few minutes of the movie. It is seen while the narrator dog, Jupiter, provides the history of how the Isle of Dogs came to be.

Killers of the Flower Moon

I felt a profound sense of responsibility while working on the set, given the film's focus on the Osage Nation and the "Reign of Terror" in 1920s Oklahoma. As someone with Native American ancestors that were forcibly moved and ill treated, I felt a personal connection to the project. One of the highlights of my time on set was seeing the Osage and other tribes participating in this project and the detail to authenticity that was paid to their customs and historically accurate clothing and finery.

Private Residential Commission

Trophy Room

This project created an immersive narrative environment, through a panoramic mural. The owner wanted to have a background like a museum diorama. This approach involves painting on large sheets of canvas and installing in a seamless, wraparound technique that eliminates visual boundaries, turning the room into an experience.

Dallas Stage Scenery

Dallas Stage Scenery

When I am not busy with my own projects, it is fun to get out of the studio and assist the scenic teams at several scenic shops in Dallas as a contract worker. As a scenic assistant on numerous projects, I help translate a designer’s and paint lead’s vision into large-scale backdrops for theater and different public venues.

Furniture and Decorative Arts

Fireplace

This client and designer for this project wanted a stone finish on the upper part of the fireplace to match the tone of the actual limestone below to warm up the room and give a more “Old-world” look to the fireplace. I got a great product, Meoded, and made a few slightly different tints that got troweled on and smoothed over for a beautiful finish.
